Michael Rovatsos is a Reader at the School of Informatics of the University of Edinburgh and Director of the Bayes Centre, the University's new £40-million innovation centre for Data Science and AI. As part of this role, he also represents Edinburgh at the Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for Data Science and AI. He has been active in AI research for 20 years where he has published over 90 original research papers and has been involved in projects worth over £17m. His current research interests are in ethical AI with a particular focus on developing fair and transparent algorithms for the kinds of online platforms we all use in our daily lives.
