Born in Aberdeen in 1982, Ian Munro became the youngest serving Rector of an HMC school in the world when he was appointed by Kelvinside Academy in 2016.
Mr Munro, a graduate of Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, was Deputy Headmaster at Shiplake College, Henley-on-Thames for 3 years and previously held senior teaching positions at Gordonstoun School and George Heriot’s School. He has also undertaken educational research with the University of Cambridge into school effectiveness.
Married to Catherine, who is also a teacher, they have a great love of the outdoors and particularly enjoy sailing off the west coast of Scotland. Ian is a keen follower of rugby, football and cricket and has coached the Great Britain U16 and Scottish Junior Rowing teams.
