Neil Tarrant is a primary school (Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich) principal in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. He founded the Irish Language resource website Leighleat - www.leighleat.com – a widly used technology support for Irish Medium schools (Gaelscoileanna) in Ireland.
In January 2019, the parents, children and teachers of Gaelscoil Uí Fhiaich collaborated to embark on a ‘Social Media Detox’ project for all children in the school. The project has attracted national interest through the media and the model is now being considered for use by a number of schools. A survey of the parents’ observations reveals many positive outcomes particularily in the area of mental health.
