The Bayes Centre is the University's data-driven innovation hub for Science & Engineering.
Its mission is to excel in technology which powers the interaction of people, data and
systems, and to translate our world-leading computing research into positive impact for the
economy and society. The Centre hosts researchers from the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics,
the Alan Turing Institute, Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC), the International
Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), Design Informatics, The Data Lab, as well as
students, industrial research labs, accelerators, and commercialisation teams with the aim of
developing new education and innovation activities across the College and beyond. For the
first time in the University’s history, the Bayes Centre enables up to 600 researchers,
students, and external collaborators from industry and government to work together in a
shared working environment. Both the building and its activities are supported by the City
Region Deal, a government initiative that aims to make Edinburgh the “data capital of
Europe”.
