Gordon is Visiting Director of Innovation and a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Robert Gordon University. This role involves leading the development of the university as an innovation-driven entrepreneurial organisation. Gordon was previously VP of Commercial and Regional Innovation at RGU. Launched in September 2019, the entrepreneurship activities in RGU won the Herald Higher Education Award for Outstanding Business Engagement in June 2019.

Prior to RGU he was the Head of the Entrepreneurship Center and Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. During that time he developed country-wide startup programs, corporate Innovation training for Saudi companies and launched extensive teaching & learning programs in innovation, entrepreneurship and the future of work for Saudi university students.

Prior to Saudi Arabia, he was Associate Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Arizona State University, Principal Investigator of the ASU Center of Excellence in Technology Transfer, which was funded by the US Department of Defense. Gordon was awarded the title of ‘Arizona Tech Titan’ in 2014 by the Arizona Business Journal and an Award for Excellence from KAUST in 2015. He was a co-founder of two funded start-up companies in the late 1990’s and also worked in a number of industry management roles including Westinghouse and the strategy practice of Accenture.

Born in Portadown, Northern Ireland, Simon was educated at Portadown College and left Northern Ireland in 2001 to attend the University of Abertay Dundee, where he obtained a BSc (Hons) in Business Computing. Following a number of IT related roles in both NHS Tayside and BT, Simon moved into lecturing at Dundee College in 2008, specialising in Network Management and Cisco Administration.

In November 2010 Simon was promoted to the role of Curriculum Manager in Computing at Dundee College and has remained in Academic Management ever since, culminating in his current role of Vice Principal Curriculum & Attainment within the merged Dundee & Angus College. In this role Simon overall responsibility for the College curriculum as well as ICT, Marketing, External Relations, Learning & Digital Resources and Outreach Centres.

Simon also works as an Associate Assessor for Education Scotland, is a member of the Digital Skills Partnership and is interim chair of the Board of the Management for Dundee Science Centre.

As head of Jisc Scotland and Jisc Northern Ireland, Jason has responsibility for ensuring outstanding service for Jisc’s members in each nation, providing digital solutions for education and research.
With a background in law, Jason’s passion for education began with a lectureship at the University of Abertay in Dundee, becoming an enthusiastic adopter of technology in teaching (including use of online self-assessment with large classes, delivering learning material online, and use of video for teaching and feedback). He also gained valuable experience through a secondment as head of law.
In 2004, Jason became service manager at Jisc Legal, and for a decade managed the delivery of practical assistance in technology and law to UK FE and HE before being appointed to his current role in 2015.
Beyond his enthusiastic evangelism for good use of technology in education, he enjoys running, cooking (haggis wontons are a speciality), and judging schools debating.
