The inaugural BELS conference was held at the Scottish Event Campus on 21st March 2018 and brought together:
- Leaders in the Business Events and MICE markets in Scotland and the UK, including events organisers, public sector destination marketing organisations and hosts;
- Leaders from key economic sectors;
- International events industry opinion formers from Australia, Singapore and Ireland.
The conference provided an opportunity for international best practice to inform market development in Scotland and forged new relationships between conventions organisers and emerging economic sectors, delivering lasting economic value. You can see the legacy report from 2018 published in EventsBase magazine here.
The proposition for BELS 2020 is to continue to support national objectives for the ongoing development of a thriving business events industry in Scotland, to provide an international learning forum for the adoption of new ideas and practices around destination marketing and to support events organisers in their bids to attract global events and build homegrown events that are well positioned to succeed in a changing market.
